Loot and Rubi¶
Items only come from level-ups, bosses, printers, the portal and other players' deaths. Everything you break or kill drops XP, Rubi and sometimes powerups.
Level-ups¶
Every level-up opens a pick: 3 item cards (one more per Fortune Die) and the Wildcard. Several level-ups at once queue up.
- Cards are different items, never a Tier 4 you already hold or a second signature active, and never a "projectile weapons only" item for the Lich or Summoner.
- Each card has a 1.5% chance to be cursed instead (at most one cursed card per offer).
- Each Tier 1 to 4 card has a 1% chance to be Enhanced (see Stats and stacking).
- A Summoner gets one item card fewer and a Summon card instead.
- Luck shifts all of these (see the Luck table).
The Wildcard gambles instead of picking: one item with much better odds, but you don't choose it and it can be cursed. A reel spins for 4 s (1.6 s with Fast Wildcard on in Options) and the item is yours when it stops. Dying mid-spin cancels it.
Base odds (before Luck):
| Source | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 | Tier 4 | Cursed | Enhanced |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level-up card | 79.84% | 18.96% | 1% | 0.2% | 1.5% | 1% |
| Wildcard | 49.26% | 39.41% | 9.85% | 1.48% | 3% | 5% |
| Boss Wildcard | 35% | 45% | 17% | 3% | 3% | 8% |
| Printer | 80% | 19% | 1% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
A Tier 4 card is about 1 in 500; a Wildcard about 1 in 70.
Bosses¶
Killing a boss offers a pick: its boss item (or, if you already hold it, 3 normal cards), or instead a boss Wildcard with the best odds in the game. The first kill of each boss in a life also drops 3 permanent powerups; later kills drop one small powerup.
Printers and scrappers¶
Each arena has 4 printers and 2 scrappers, always in the same spots. Use them with F.
- A printer shows one Tier 1 to 3 item. Using it trades away one item of the same tier: your scrap of that tier first, otherwise a random item of that tier you hold (never the one it prints). It doesn't check that the item suits your class.
- Each player can print the shown item 3 times. Every 300 s all printers on the server switch to a new item (weighted like level-up cards, Tier 1 to 3 only).
- A scrapper turns any Tier 1 to 3 item into one scrap of its tier. Each player can scrap 4 items per 120 s. Scrapping an Enhanced card scraps one copy; the other two stay as plain copies.
Breakables¶
| Breakable | Hits | XP | Respawn | Drops |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pot, barrel, crate | 1 | 1 (x arena power) | 15 / 20 / 25 s | 15% chance of a small powerup |
| Strongbox | 120 health | 10 | 90 s | 1 permanent powerup |
| Crystal | 300 health | 25 | 180 s | 2 permanent powerups |
Strongbox and crystal health, and all XP, scale with the arena's power. Hits on strongboxes and crystals can crit and get your situational bonuses; Prospector's Pick adds damage against them.
Chests¶
Chests sit on hidden loot spots around each arena. Shoot or hit them to open them:
| Chest | Per arena | Hits to open | Powerups | Rubi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chest | 7 | 2 | 1 | 1 x 6 |
| Gilded Chest | 2 | 4 | 2 | 2 x 6 |
An opened chest comes back 75 s later at another spot.
Powerups¶
| Powerup | Each pickup | Cap | Drops from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bulwark | +2% bullet resistance | 20% (each pickup worth less) | strongboxes, crystals, chests, bosses |
| Cushion | +2% other resistance | 20% (each pickup worth less) | strongboxes, crystals, chests, bosses |
| Frenzy | attack 1.5% faster (compounds) | none | everything that drops powerups |
| Haste | +0.25 move speed | none | everything that drops powerups |
| Hexguard | +2% hex resistance | 20% (each pickup worth less) | strongboxes, crystals, chests, bosses |
| Mend | heal 25% of max health | - | crates, barrels, enemies |
| Might | +2% damage (of base, adds up) | none | everything that drops powerups |
| Vigor | +5 max health | none | strongboxes, crystals, chests, bosses |
| Ward | +2% item resistance | 20% (each pickup worth less) | strongboxes, crystals, chests, bosses |
Enemies drop a small powerup 7% of the time (some mid-sized enemies more often: see Arenas and enemies). Strongboxes, crystals, chests and bosses drop the permanent kinds. Powerups last until you die. See Stats and stacking for how they add up.
Rubi¶
Rubi is the currency. It drops as little living gems that scatter, wait, and run to the closest player within 14 studs. Anyone can take them; a gem nobody takes in 20 s pays out to whoever it dropped for anyway.
| Source | Rubi |
|---|---|
| An enemy | its own value x arena power x 0.5 (see Arenas and enemies) |
| Crates, barrels, pots | their XP x 0.5 |
| Strongboxes, crystals | their XP x 0.4 |
| Chests | 6 per powerup inside |
| Another player | 5% to 15% of their Rubi |
Midas Charm and prestige raise it; Blizzards make it worth 1.5x. Rubi is lost when you die.
The store¶
Press B. The store sells active items (they never drop anywhere else) and Blink charges. You can hold 3 actives (keys Z, C, V) and sell one back for 50% of its price to make room. Merchant's Ledger lowers prices. You can't move, attack or use abilities while the store is open, and it all resets when you die.
Active cooldowns: more copies don't apply (each is unique), Brittle Hourglass cuts them, Longwick Candle makes the effect last longer, and Overcharge Signet gives three uses in a row. See every active on the Items page.
The Pets tab is where you choose which pets follow you.
The mysterious portal¶
Every 600 to 840 s a blue portal opens at a random spot in every arena at once, for 180 s. The killfeed announces it. Walk in and you are in a floating room where nobody can be hurt, with four stations:
| Station | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cleanser | Removes one cursed item. The first each life is free, then 150 Rubi, then 150 more for each one after |
| Forge (Tier 4) | 5 Tier 3 items (scrap first) become one random Tier 4 item you don't hold, never the one it gave you last |
| Forge (Tier 3) | 5 Tier 2 items (scrap first) become one random Tier 3 item you don't hold |
| Cursed market | 5 cursed items for 450 Rubi each, one of each per player, new wares every opening |
When the portal closes, everyone inside goes back to their own arena's plaza.
